Frequently asked questions
What is SkyGIS?
SkyGIS is a cloud GIS platform that brings LiDAR point clouds, drone and 360° imagery, CAD and BIM models and vector data together in your browser. SkyGIS Viewer covers viewing, measuring and sharing. SkyGIS Pro adds analysis, processing, in-browser vectorization, privacy blurring and offline projects.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. SkyGIS Viewer has a Free plan for 1 user with 5 GB of storage. Paid Viewer plans add users and storage, and annual billing gives you two months free. If you need more users or storage than the listed plans include, ask for custom Viewer pricing. Pro is priced as a custom package.
Which file formats does SkyGIS support?
Point clouds in LAS, LAZ, E57 and ASCII (plus RCS on Pro), Gaussian splats from Xgrids and in PLY, SOG and SPZ, vectors in DXF, DWG, SHP, GeoJSON, KML, KMZ and GeoPackage, IFC and LandXML models, and orthophotos in GeoTIFF and JPEG 2000.
Do I need to install any software?
No. SkyGIS runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, Mac, Linux and iPad. Large datasets stream progressively, so a standard office laptop or tablet is enough.
Do my clients need an account to view a shared project?
No. Share links open in any modern browser without an account or software installation. You can protect each link with a password and an expiry date.
Where is my data stored?
All data is processed and stored in European data centers, encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, and replicated across multiple availability zones with daily backups.
Can I use SkyGIS offline?
With Pro, you can make a project available offline on a tablet or phone before you go to site, then view its downloaded layers with no signal. Offline copies are view-only, so edits happen back online.
